Found in the Indian Himalayas and Bhutan on the edges of high river banks and forests in leaf litter and humus at elevations of 1300 to 2200 meters, as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial or lithophyte on limestone outcrops in tall grass with narrowly elliptic to ligulate, clear dull green, mid-rib prominent on underside leaves that blooms in the late autumn through spring with 1 flower on a pubescent, 10" [25 cm] long, slender, purple pubescent inflorescence.
