Paphiopedilum henryanum

SPECIES

A recently discovered species [1987] that occurs around the China and northern Vietnamese borders at 610 to 1400 meters in elevation as a rare, smaller sized, warm to cool growing lithophyte in semi-deciduous, broadleafed, mixed and coniferous, mossy, open forests on steep highly eroded limestone cliffs with 3 to 6 distichous, lanceolate or linear-ligulate, obtuse, unequally bilobulbate or minutely tridenticulate apically, glossy dark green above, paler green below leaves that is sharply keeled beneath that blooms in the fall and winter on a single flowered, erect, 4 3/4 to 6" [12 to 15 cm] long, green to purple brown pubescent, terminal inflorescence.
