Paphiopedilum hookerae

This small sized, warm to hot growing, lithophytic species is found in Borneo at the base of weathered sandstone cliffs in deep leaf litter, at the base of trees or in rock crevasses with constant water seepage at elvations of 300 to 800 meters with 5 to 6, tesselated dark and light green above, oblong-elliptic, leaves that blooms in spring and summer on a single flowered, erect, 8 to 12" [20 to 30 cm] long, terminal, purple, white pubescent inflorescence with a lanceolate, pale brown pubescent floral bract.
