Found as a large sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte in Sabah Borneo at elevations of 400 to 1200 meters arising from low down on the trunks of montane forest trees with a long, simple, woody stem enveloped completely by imbricate, persistent leaf sheaths below and leaf-bearing sheaths above and carrying alternate, conduplicate, oblong-ligulate, coriaceous, unequally bilobed apically leaves and blooms on an almost horizontal, dense, many [13 to 16] flowered, occasionally 1 to 2, branched, 18" [45 cm] long inflorescence with small greyish brown, ovate, obtuse sterile bracts below and ovate, obtuse floral bracts above.
